There are two things Drudge does well: Hurricanes (Drudge was covering Hurricane Hilary a week before it hit California) and...

...presidential debates. Drudge always does its own poll for its viewers, after every debate. And, with GOP debates, it results reflect fairly well how people will vote in a Primary election.

So, according to the Drudge poll with currently well over 100,000 replies, Ramaswamy kicked GOP butt. He's a small fraction below one third of the votes. Haley's second, Ron DeSantis is third. Christie fourth.

Ramaswamy is sharp. He's made to debate. He had a few first-class zingers in the moment that couldn't have been prepared. If he's, somehow, the nominee and debates "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap?" Oy vey!

Having said that, pb thinks that DeSantis came across as the candidate who'd make the best President.

This was a win for the GOPs feisty candidates. Lively audience.

I watch it just to see what the candidates were up to, and to see them.

I actually met Asa when I was working on a DEA/FBI Task force. We had just taken down a major domestic gang and put a lot of bad people in jail. I think Asa has a good head on his shoulders and knows the ins and outs of the swamp and how to get things done. Not prez material, but VP is an option. You could actually put him in charge of the border and things would happen. He went up on my scale.

Christy to me was as bad as trumpster in his bully pulpit. He had good points, but that mouth... He went down on my scale.

Ramaswamy is the new kid on the block. His issue is the same as trumpsters. May be great at business, but he expects people to listen to him. Had some good things to talk about, but he needs to know he's not in charge right now. My least favorite.

What words Nikki got in edgewise, were pretty good. She is a negotiator (good news) and knows how a bill needs to be passed- and it's not calling 1/2 the US morons or cretins or losers, whatever. She went up on my scale.

It's only 2 cents, but that's what I thought. I got asked if we watched the trumpster thing. That was a flat no. There seemed to be a lot of folks there that didn't appreciate trumpster not being bothered with this. The good news is that he and christy didn't WWE it on stage. Although that might have been entertaining.

    OD,
Apparently DeSantis didn’t make much of an impression on you. I heard that he wants to send our military into Mexico on “day one“ to shut down drug cartels and fentanyl labs.

As I've said for the past few months, DeSantis is, I guess, "on the list" but not favored by me. There are better folks on the bench.

According to 538, DeSantis did the best. I think.

curt #2- Apparently DeSantis didn’t make much of an impression on you. I heard that he wants to send our military into Mexico on “day one“ to shut down drug cartels and fentanyl labs.

If you're just hearing about this, it means you haven't heard the explanation of the whole process. There are still a multitude of legal hurdles to cross before we randomly go into another sovereign nation.[1]

This is not in a true order, as many of these are happening at the same time.
    The powerpoint version;

    - Get bipartisan legislation to make it easier to enter the US legally (so we know who is in our country)
    - secure the border with military grade technology
    - boost the size and training of Homeland Security, USBP
    - inform Mexico we are making this change and that we want to work with them. - claim them as an International Terrorist Organization[2]
    - tell the UN what we're up to (we don't need approval, but notice is always nice
    - work domestically to interfere with supply routes and charge according to PATRIOT act guidelines.
    - as needed, go internationally

[1] I find it humorous people are far more worried about going into another sovereign nation's country, but don't see our country as being a sovereign nation.
[2] Once that's done, PATRIOT Act comes into view. So the "american" citizens working for them makes them on the legal standing of the tsarnaev brothers.

Translation: Escalation of the failed drug war. The civilized countries have solved this problem thru decriminalization and legalization. Treat it for what it is - a health problem Not another hammer/nail businees opportunity for Lockheed Martin and the whores in DC.

I'm going to let a libtard publication tell its story.

What Happened When Oregon Decriminalized Hard Drugs

Early results of this reform effort, the first of its kind in any state, are now coming into view, and so far, they are not encouraging. State leaders have acknowledged faults with the policy’s implementation and enforcement measures. And Oregon’s drug problems have not improved. Last year, the state experienced one of the sharpest rises in overdose deaths in the nation and had one of the highest percentages of adults with a substance-use disorder. During one two-week period last month, three children under the age of 4 overdosed in Portland after ingesting fentanyl.

But three years later, with rising overdoses and delays in treatment funding, even some of the measure’s supporters now believe that the policy needs to be changed. In a nonpartisan statewide poll earlier this year, more than 60 percent of respondents blamed Measure 110 for making drug addiction, homelessness, and crime worse. A majority, including a majority of Democrats, said they supported bringing back criminal penalties for drug possession. This year’s legislative session, which ended in late June, saw at least a dozen Measure 110–related proposals from Democrats and Republicans alike, ranging from technical fixes to full restoration of criminal penalties for drug possession. Two significant changes—tighter restrictions on fentanyl and more state oversight of how Measure 110 funding is distributed—passed with bipartisan support.

I don't even have to look at the law to know we did some sort of half ass measure that was doomed to fail from the beginning. Marijuana legalization has been a huge success nationwide.

    Indy,
It was more than half-assed. Oregon's measure 110 covered all drugs (controlled substances): heroin, fentanyl, meth, etc. Here is the summary:
"A "yes" vote supported making personal non-commercial possession of a controlled substance no more than a Class E violation (max fine of $100 fine) and establishing a drug addiction treatment and recovery program funded in part by the state's marijuana tax revenue and state prison savings."

110 has not worked out as hoped. Oregon's other progressive drug initiatives have faired better.

Oregon was the first state to decriminalize possession of small amounts of cannabis in 1973, downgrading it to a fine similar to a traffic offense. Voters also made Oregon among the first to approve cannabis for medical use when they approved Ballot Measure 67 in 1998. Recreational pot was legalized in Oregon in 2015. Oregon voters approved Measure 109 in 2020. The Oregon Psilocybin Services Act is the first law in the United States that establishes a regulatory framework for receiving psilocybin, also known as psychedelic mushrooms.
